- Using neuroscience, I aim to improve our understanding of how people interact with maps and how cartographers can design more effective and meaningful visualizations.
- How does our brain translate maps into spaces we can mentally "see" in our mind? My research examines this process of spatial and map cognition.
Achievements
- Part of the team that produced the award-winning Atlas of Yellowstone (2nd ed) and Wild Migrations: Atlas of Wyoming's Ungulates
- Awarded the Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant by the National Science Foundation to support research on neuro-correlates of cartographic visual contrast
- Named Outstanding Scholar by the International Cartography Association
